Growing up in South Louisiana was an adventure. I learned to swim before I could walk, having been tossed overboard while fishing in Lafitte. I used to speak French, may che, raised alligators snatched from their nests, and sported a thick Cajun accent as the waterboy for the football team.

My name is Loyd Bourgeois, and while that story isn’t exactly my life, it’s close. I’m a native Louisianan from Bayou Gauche in St. Charles Parish, a Catholic family man with a loving wife and three children. I hold an engineering degree from LSU and graduated cum laude from Tulane Law School. Passionate about Louisiana, I’m proud to support New Orleans' recovery. A die-hard Tigers fan, Saints believer, and Pelicans supporter, I prefer fish over steak, cherish time on the water, and know that boiling shrimp is an art. I love good gumbo, especially when it’s a day old, and have eaten nutria. I enjoy my Redfish grilled on the half shell and believe flounder is the best-tasting fish around. I appreciate Abita beer, Miller Lite, and Crown & 7, but also enjoy good wine. A perfect margarita is never frozen, but a great snowball always is. I am Louisiana.
